Overview of contemporary sculptural processes

PAST EVENT (20 May 2013) An informative overview of contemporary sculptural processes, reference to historical practice and the origins of these processes. An interactive session which includes practical demonstrations. Sculpture Appreciation - In this section of the evening we attempt to lay the foundation on which participants can rely when making practical applications. This is a broad review of sculptural practice throughout the ages and provides a appreciation of the skills, equipment, materials and techniques involved. Practical demonstrations showing the different processes and materials used in sculptural practice will also take place as well as physical examples of sculptures. Primary areas to be addressed include: Additive Sculpture; Reductive Sculpture; Mounding and Casting. About the presenter : George Holloway is a renowned Durban sculptor.
